The Macon Community Hospital volunteer program began in 2003 and was designed to provide a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. With appropriate training, hospital volunteers are allowed to perform most any task that does not require a license or certification. Every effort is made to match our volunteers with tasks that are of interest to the individual volunteer.
The volunteer program works with the Service Learning classes and the work-based learning classes at the local high schools to provide service opportunities for students who have expressed an interest in a healthcare related career. These students are placed in the department of interest and are encouraged to become an active part of that department. In essence, the students get a feel for the work carried out by the department.
The volunteer program also works with individuals who need volunteer hours to satisfy scholarship requirements, class requirements and court mandated community service hours. The hospital reserves the right to review and approve or reject for mandated community service. Please allow adequate time for arrangements to be made prior to the deadline for community service hours.
