“Putting off a medical screening is easy. Scheduling one is smarter.”
— Miles Gibson

Miles Gibson knows firsthand the importance of preventive medical screenings. “Three years ago, our rescue cat, Stormy, jumped up on my wife, Ginger,” explains Miles. “She felt a pain in her breast and had it checked out. Turns out it was breast cancer. Thanks to Stormy, we caught it early, and Ginger is doing great. So when my doctor told me I was more than 15 years overdue for a colonoscopy, I knew I had to get it done.”
Dr. Thomas Taylor, a board-certified surgeon with Macon Community Hospital, performed the colonoscopy. “The entire staff was very professional,” says Miles. “They made the whole experience so easy and simple. And Dr. Taylor said that everything was A-OK with my colon. I highly recommend that everyone get to their screenings at Macon Community Hospital. It’s so important.”
Miles and Ginger have trusted Macon Community Hospital since they moved here 20 years ago. “The hospital has grown so much since then,” says Miles, who owns Gibson’s Cafe, located in the old Post Office building on Lafayette’s town square. “And with the hospital now offering so many specialty clinics, there’s no need to go to Hendersonville in many cases. We are so blessed to have a hospital like this. It’s the jewel of healthcare in our community.”
