“Healing takes time.Macon Community Hospital gave me the time I needed.”
— Wanda Kinslow

During the January ice storm, Wanda Winslow had surgery to remove a fluid-filled cyst that was causing extreme pain in her lower back. For her recovery, she chose the Swing Bed Program at Macon Community Hospital.
During her 10-day stay, Wanda received both physical and occupational therapy. “I got my strength back doing physical therapy,” Wanda says. “And the occupational therapy helped me get back to taking care of myself, from getting dressed to taking a bath. The therapy staff really took good care of me. I was always glad to see them.”
The Swing Bed Program at Macon Community Hospital is a Medicare-approved service specifically designed for patients who no longer need full hospital care but are not ready to go home.
“Before the surgery, the pain in my lower back could be as high as a 10,” Wanda says. “Now I have almost no pain. Macon Community Hospital gave me the time to recover and adjust from my surgery before going home, with all my friends and family close by.”
This was not Wanda’s first visit as a patient to Macon Community Hospital. “I was actually born at the hospital,” Wanda says. “And I stayed there once overnight when I had light vertigo. The care I received that time was just as good. It’s always been A+!”
